PACE is the Professional Activities Committees for Engineers. The PACE network is comprised of volunteers organized locally at the section and chapter level facilitated by committees at the regional and national level.

The PACE Network promotes the professional interests of IEEE's U.S. members.

It does this by providing a mechanism for communicating information about activities relative to their professional needs and by sponsoring those activities at the local level.

The activity areas include:

v    Precollege Education Activities

v    Student Professional Awareness Activities

v    Career and Employment Enhancement Activities

v    Technical Policy Activities

v    Government Activities

2004 E3 Fair

The IEEE Rochester, NY section was a sponsor and exhibitor at the 2004 E3 (Engineering, Exploration and Experimentation) Fair at the R.I.T. Ritter Ice Arena on May 6, 2004. E3 is a middle-school science fair with a mission to encourage students in technology areas by providing competitive events and hands-on demonstrations.

Section PACE Chair, Joe DeVita, demonstrated Wireless Communications with RATs.

Three forms of Radio Access Technologies were shown – Over the Air High Definition Television, Wireless Local Area Networks and Mobile Telephony. An overview of the technologies is available in a PowerPoint presentation.

This demonstration was made possible with assistance from Belkin Components, Verizon Wireless and WXXI / PBS.
